Who left the compounded semaglutide market, and what it means for you
The February 2025 shortage resolution, the enforcement deadlines that followed and a wave of manufacturer litigation pushed several of the largest consumer platforms out of compounded semaglutide entirely. Most patients discovered it at renewal rather than in advance.

The timeline that caused it
FDA declared the semaglutide shortage resolved on 21 February 2025. Shortage listing was what permitted compounding copies of the approved products, so its removal narrowed the lawful pathway to patient-specific compounding under section 503A.
State-licensed pharmacies had until 22 April 2025 and outsourcing facilities until 22 May 2025. A district court declined to pause the deadlines on 24 April. Manufacturer litigation did the rest: platforms facing legal exposure moved to brand-only models well before any judgment.
The practical consequence
Any comparison written before spring 2026 that ranks these platforms for compounded semaglutide is describing a product they no longer sell. Check the verification date on anything you read.
The cheap end of the market now belongs to smaller operators. That is not automatically worse, but it raises the value of verifying the pharmacy behind a programme rather than relying on a recognisable brand.
How to reduce your exposure
Avoid long prepaid terms with a programme whose dispensing pharmacy you cannot identify. Prefer programmes naming several partner pharmacies over those with a single owned facility, because a programme with one supply route cannot reroute your prescription. And do not let supply run to zero — semaglutide takes sixteen weeks to re-titrate from the starter dose.
